B. Anne Donovan of Eagle Rock, VA died on Friday, 12 JAN 2024 surrounded by
her family following a brief illness. She was born in Charlotte, NC, daughter of the
late L. Deck and Bettie Waddell Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband
Reverend David R. Donovan, her sister Judy Cahoon and her brother Jimmy
“Moon” Taylor. She is survived by her children Missy Donovan Fonseca (Meli,
Gaby) of Gastonia, NC, Suzy Donovan Welch (Deane, Taylor) of Salem, VA, and
Christopher D. Donovan (Nia) of Roxboro, NC. She is also survived by her sister
Mary Bentley (William), brother-in-law Steve Donovan (Judy), sister-in-law Becky
Paule (Lane), several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Biscuit.
Anne lived a life of service to others. She was devoted to her family and traveled
countless miles to support her loved ones in times of celebration and of need. She
was devoted to her church, singing in the choir and serving as a Sunday School
teacher and deacon. She was an active member of the SWVA Emmaus community
as well as the Kairos and Kairos Outside ministries. As a cancer survivor, she
fundraised for and participated in Relay for Life, serving on the planning
committee for many years.
After graduating from Berea College in 1967 with a nursing degree, Anne served
in the US Navy, worked in several hospitals including the VA Hospital in Salem, VA
and Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC, and taught nursing at Gardner Webb
University in Boiling Springs, NC. She spent the last 15 years of her nearly 50-year
career with Good Samaritan Hospice and Mountain Regional Hospice.

Baptist Church, 511 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422. Visitation will be at
2pm with the service to follow at 3pm.
